Idle and starting problems with 2001 tribute Any ideas on what to check?
Idle air control valve. Had a problem with the 2001 tribute either dying at idle or it would not stay running on start unless I gave it gas. Replaced the Idle Air Control Valve after some research on the net and this resolved my problem. It is only two screws, sits on top of the engine, and has a single electrical connector. Easy, easy, easy...You could also try to clean the one you have with some cleaner that is formulated for those types of parts.
