what could happen if a person fled their felony probation and turned themselves in 6 years later in another state?

Question

what could happen if a person fled their felony probation and turned themselves in 6 years later in another state?

Answer

Depending on how far away the two states are, they may or may not come and get you. You definitely would originally be arrested, but then you might be held indefinitely until either the arresting state arrived to take you, or until the state you're in released you. This could happen over and over.

Ultimately, if you turn yourself in, it's a whole lot easier to go to that state. Now, it's hard to say what will happen to you ... That depends on how serious the original crime was, how merciful the judge is, how much time is over your head, and how well you did on probation- before you took off...
