My 97 rodeo revs to almost 3000rpm's before shifting once it warms up it gets better then runs and seems to shift fine just revs too high before shifting any ideas?

My 97 rodeo revs to almost 3000rpm's before shifting once it warms up it gets better then runs and seems to shift fine just revs too high before shifting any ideas?
This is commonly caused by dirty fluid and a dirty filter. Drop thetransmission pan and replace the filter and refill with new fluid.
