I have to refinance my house after a divorce to remove her name. I cannot get the financing without a co-signer. If I add the cosigner to the deed is this still refinancing or "selling" because I am, in effect, giving my new partner a part of the house?



Answer

If the cosigner is on the grant then the cosigner is legally speaking a co-owner. It doesn't sound like a sale to me.
