I have a judgment for a credit card in California. I moved to Texas last year and work here. My wages have just been garnished. I talked to the payroll office and they said they will follow the California judgment even though I live in Texas. Is this legal? If it is not, who can I contact to help me since the payroll office wont? If it is, is there any way to stop this other than filing bankruptcy? I make the minimum and pay for basics and cant live off the remainder after the garnishment.
Answer
No, this is not legal.
Contact the Texas Workforce Commission:

Your employer is breaking the law. And they are idiots.
