Question

I have an auto loan with Santander Financial, and since they took over my auto loan from Citifinancial, over a year ago, I have not received any statements from Santander at all. Since I live in California, is there any stipulation that the finance company should be sending me statements every month? I would like to know how much more is the payoff, of course, like any consumer would. I have tried to call them as well, but an act of congress to actually speak to someone and not get the run around with this company, please help!!

Answer

Actually there is an act of Congress. More than one. Look up [fair credit billing act] and [fair credit reporting act]. Don't Do Stuff Verbally (don't call them). Write letters certified mail return receipt requested in all dealings with them. Demand that they send you a current statement of account. If you do call them, keep a log of all attempts to reach someone, together with the date and time and the length of time you were put on hold.
