Is it legal to raise the retail price of an item before putting it on sale?

Question

Is it legal to raise the retail price of an item before putting it on sale?

Answer

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Generally retailers are free to set or revise their prices upwards or downwards. So, in theory, a retailer could raise the price of something, then at some point lower the price by putting it on sale. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
