Lived in home for over 25 years, was told its your home and when you become an adult and proof that prop tax would be paid deed would be sighned over . Came home (about 6 mo ago) all personal prop gone and was told they decided not to keep end of the promise. My father doesnt want to hurt his parents feeling by going to court for it and he doesnt mind that hes 56 and homeless. I am going to be homeless with a 4 year old and they are going to sell my family house. Ive been told by a few people that my father is more then entitled to the deed if he took them to court...what on earth can I do?

Answer

If the promise was made to your father and not to you and he does not want to pursue it, then there is nothing you can do. If their was no detrimental reliance by your father on the promise, it can not be enforced as a gift.

This is a matter of contract law not Civil Rights.
