I own & run an air conditioning company. In August I did a big job for a customer. I received a letter from a lawyer who has been appointed trustee over this customer's estate. The letter states that my company has to pay back all the money we were paid from doing the job. That money is gone. Equipment was purchased & labor paid. Is this even legal?

You should really talk to a Bankruptcy Attorney. The answer is you might and there are far too many scenarios to answer like this.
