How much would an art teacher make?
It depends on what area, what degree you have and what grade level you want to teach.
Pay tends to be lower in rural areas (but this is DEFINITELY not always true). I live near Chicago so teachers rarely start below 32,000 a year for elementary and 34,000 for secondary (due to the longer school day). In the richer areas, people start anywhere from 37,000-40,000 a year. If you are living in a rural area, you would most likely start in the upper 20's or low 30's... but cost of living is so low that it doesn't matter. I have heard of people starting at 23,000 :( <--- Rare.
You will be able to live off a teacher's salary no matter where you work. You will find that the cost of living in a given area greatly impacts what you make. (I have found that Indiana is great because they pay their teacher's well and cost of living is fairly low)
Basically, I would expect to make (as an average) anywhere from 27,000-32,000 to start. Again, it depends on location.
