Question

Ok I recently had a baby and was not married and is still not with the father of the baby. He does not come around or help with anything. I try to communicate with him regarding the baby but he ignores calls and texts. I want to give him child support but I have a feeling him and his family will try to take custody of the baby just by me simply wantimg child support. Can he do that and should I try to recieve child support?

Answer

Yes, you should file a paternity suit and ask the Court to order him to pay child support.

Yes, he can ask the Court to give HIM custody, and he can make you go through a custody fight. You should NOT let that affect your decision in any way.
