Can I buy a gun if I participated in deferred adjudication?
When I was 18 I was charged with 3 felonies:
Organized Crime
Money Laundering
Possession of a controlled substance.
I participated in deferred adjudication and finished all my probation without any issues, etc.
The case is now listed as "disposed" and the proceedings dismissed.
I want to know if I can legally purchase a gun since I was never technically convicted of a felony.
I know you can get in trouble if you fail the check when buying a gun, so I wanted to be sure before I attempt to get one.
Answer
Usually this is a problem if there is a finding of family violence.
