What hypothesis could you propose about the relationship between the position of an atom in a molecule and the type of bonds the atom forms?

The electron(s) of an atom orbiting the nucleus create ripples in the local space around the atom. These ripples become the boundary of the molecular dimension. Since we are molecular in nature, we are limited to the molecular boundary.

When molecules of compatible vibrations come into close proximity to one another they can link by the harmonics of their spherical boundaries. This is a chemical bond.

When atoms with electrons in the valence band come into close proximity, they can share electrons. This is covalent bonding, which is a stronger bond than the chemical bond.
