Is there a way to get a record of a will from a court or something? if the sibling won't provide the will to the rest of the family. the lawyer who helped with the will died a long time ago, so cant get it from him

Answer

A will does not have to be deposited or filed in a court until it is probated,, so there is no way to get a copy until someone files for probate. The best way to get a copy is to file for probate, asking that you be appointed as personal representative. If the person who has the will wants to enforce it, he or she will have to produce it at that time, and file it with the court. Otherwise, the petitioner will likely be appointed as personal representative.
