Is it possible to remove Vaseline from a fabric covered chair which is so thick it has soaked the foam pad or must I reupholster?
First remove as much excess Vaseline as possible using a spoon toscoop the jelly towards the center of the stain. Apply a commercialcleaning solvent (check for color safeness first) or rubbingalcohol. Allow about 15-30 minutes for the jelly to break down andblot with a clean white cloth. Continue to blot, using a clean spoton the cloth, until no more Vaseline transfers to the cloth.Application of the solvent and blotting may be repeated until nomore jelly is able to be removed. Mix one tablespoon Dawn dishdetergent with one cup lukewarm water and spray on the area. Blotand repeat as needed. Use plain warm water spray and clean cloth torinse the detergent residue.
